Rising Star: Muskaan Chouhan’s Fresh Energy is Shaping the Future at CBA

The WiBF National Industry Awards have always celebrated the trailblazers who are driving change across banking and finance. Among the standout moments of the 2025 ceremony was the recognition of Muskaan Chouhan, who received the Rising Star Award. Her story is one of fresh energy, genuine community building and a clear vision for making an impact early in her career.

When Muskaan’s name was called, the excitement was felt not only in the room but back at the Commonwealth Bank offices where her colleagues erupted in celebration. The reaction from her team was immediate. People messaged her throughout the night, proud to see one of their own shine.

Creating a Culture of Recognition
Muskaan’s journey has been defined by her instinct to recognise and celebrate others. She believes that shining a light on peers and colleagues builds stronger teams and fosters a culture of shared success. In her early days as a graduate she began highlighting the achievements of fellow grads, creating a ripple effect that inspired others to do the same.

“That’s something I’m really passionate about,” she explains. “When you celebrate others, you build trust and community. It makes everyone want to do better together.” This approach quickly caught the attention of leaders at CBA who saw in her a young professional with not just technical ability but emotional intelligence and leadership potential.

Finding Her Voice Early
Many graduates enter the workforce quietly observing before stepping forward. Muskaan chose a different path. She spoke openly about her interests in fraud, scams and customer vulnerability. By voicing her passion she carved out a niche for herself early, gaining opportunities to work on projects that aligned with her skills and values.

“I didn’t wait for someone to ask me what I cared about,” she says. “I made it known and that opened doors I couldn’t have imagined.” Her willingness to speak up positioned her as a valuable contributor on issues that matter deeply to both the bank and the community.

Empowering Others
What sets Muskaan apart is not just her personal drive but her commitment to empowering others. She has been instrumental in mentoring newer grads, helping them find their voice and navigate the fast-paced environment of a major bank. She regularly checks in with peers, offers advice and connects people to opportunities.

“Sometimes you just need someone to say ‘I believe in you,’” she reflects. “I had mentors who did that for me and I want to be that person for others.” Her ability to combine technical expertise with genuine care has made her a respected figure among both peers and senior leaders.

Lessons for the Next Generation
Muskaan’s journey offers valuable lessons for early career professionals. Her advice is simple but powerful: speak up, work hard and build networks that advocate for you. “No one can know what you’re passionate about if you don’t tell them,” she says. “Be clear about what excites you and be willing to put in the work.”

She also highlights the importance of community. “Success is not a solo journey. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and do the same for them.”

A Future Defined by Purpose
Winning the Rising Star Award is a defining moment in Muskaan’s career, but it is clear this is just the beginning. Her vision is to keep growing her expertise in protective systems, continue building communities that thrive on recognition and lead with authenticity.

Her story is proof that leadership is not reserved for those at the top. It begins with courage, clarity and a commitment to lifting others. Muskaan Chouhan is not just a rising star. She is helping shape the future of the industry.
