Partnering for Progress: WiBF and SMBC Driving Inclusive Leadership

Women in Banking and Finance (WiBF) CEO Stephanie Girard recently joined Yasushi Iwata, General Manager and Australia Country Head at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), to reflect on the importance of partnership, innovation and inclusive leadership.

A proud WiBF Gold Member since 2022, SMBC continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing gender balance and capability across the industry.

“Building on our valued partnership since 2022 and leveraging our Gold Membership, I am committed to deepening engagement and fostering an inclusive environment that supports the growth and development of all employees. I believe by embracing and utilising the learning and network opportunities the WiBF Program offers, I hope to empower every team member to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to our shared success,” said Mr. Yasushi Iwata.

Stephanie Girard added, “It’s incredibly powerful to see members working with WiBF to explore new ways to innovate, increase the number of women in senior executive roles, and provide practical tools and opportunities for team members at every stage of their career.”

A special thank you to Jade Girvan, Naomi Walker and Sarah Keegan for their warm welcome and for leading these important conversations within SMBC.
