VIRTUAL - WiBF Emerging Leaders
**This WiBF Masterclass offers CPD Points (1 pt)**
Masterclass date: Thursday 12th August 2027
Build trust, influence and leadership confidence—one conversation at a time.
Leadership isn’t built through authority, expertise or charisma. It’s built conversation by conversation. Every interaction shapes trust, momentum and performance, making conversational capability an essential leadership skill.
For emerging leaders in banking and finance, the ability to speak up, navigate challenging conversations and influence across the business is particularly important. This two-hour masterclass introduces practical approaches to leading yourself and others, building relationships and progressing initiatives—even without formal authority.
Drawing on the principles of conversational leadership, participants will explore how to communicate with greater confidence, create clarity and navigate the conversations that shape their effectiveness at work.
- Lead yourself: Understand your communication style and how you respond under pressure.
- Lead your team: Build trust, delegate effectively and support others to do their best work.
- Navigate friction: Approach feedback, accountability and difficult conversations with confidence.
- Influence up: Communicate strategically with senior stakeholders and make it easier for others to support your work.
- Shape the system: Map stakeholders, build relationships and influence outcomes across the business.
All genders are welcome to participate in the masterclass!

Emma Gibbens
Emma Gibbens helps leaders build the conversational infrastructure that turns strategy into momentum. We can’t fix what we can’t talk about, and that is why organisational culture lives or dies in conversation, not in values posters or strategy documents.
A TEDx speaker and author of Anatomy of Conversation, Emma has spent 17 years inside some of the most high-stakes conversations on the planet, from Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign to Western Australia’s Marriage Equality campaign.
She’s inspired over 40,000 people to speak openly, listen deeply and have the conversations that move things forward.
