Closing the Divide: Property Ownership, Gender, and Wealth Growth

At our recent event, “Closing the Divide: Property Ownership, Gender, and Wealth Growth,” WiBF and Macquarie Group convened a thought-provoking discussion in Sydney. This event shed light on the critical intersections of property ownership, gender equity, and wealth accumulation. Gratitude is extended to Macquarie, our esteemed Corporate Member, whose support made this event possible.

Joanne Spillane, the Global Head of Private Capital Markets at Macquarie Capital, set the stage with an inspiring opening address. Her empowering words paved the way for Eliza Owen from CoreLogic, who presented key findings from the ‘Women & Property 2024’ report, illuminating the persistent gender gap in property ownership.

The highlight of the event was the panel discussion, skilfully moderated by Rosalind Coffey from Macquarie Bank. The panellists, including Campbell Vidgen, Jessica Brady, and Eliza Owen, delved into multifaceted aspects of the economic landscape, property markets, wealth creation, and the concerning gender gap in superannuation.

The engagement and thought-provoking questions from attendees during the Q&A session were commendable. Their active participation added depth to the discourse and highlighted the urgency of addressing gender disparities in wealth and property ownership.
