With more than 25 years’ experience in financial services tax, Himashini Weeraratne has built a career at the intersection of technical excellence, strong governance and inclusive leadership. A Partner and Head of Financial Services Tax, and a barrister and a practising solicitor, she advises Boards and senior leaders across banking, funds and superannuation on navigating complexity with confidence and integrity.

Himashini is the Co Chair of GEN at Grant Thornton, where she actively champions gender equity, purposeful leadership and building sustainable leadership pipelines for women across financial services. Having worked both in advisory and within a Big Four bank, she brings deep insight into the systemic barriers – and opportunities – for women in the industry.

Himashini believes the future of banking and superannuation depends on inclusive, values led leadership – leadership that broadens opportunity, builds confidence and creates visible pathways for women to progress and thrive. She is passionate about ensuring people are recognised, supported and empowered for who they are, and that diverse voices meaningfully shape decisions that have lasting impact.
