WiBF President Inspires Future Leaders at Empower Her Workshop

WiBF President Natalie Vanstone recently attended the UNSW Empower Her: Women in Finance, Economics, and Politics Workshop, held on 14 and 15 April, inspiring the next generation of female leaders with her powerful personal and professional insights.

Attended by high school and university students from across the state, the workshop showcased the real-life experiences of women in industry, research, and education. Natalie shared stories from her journey through university to leadership, highlighting the value of learning from others and the importance of mentorship. Her reflections as a visible and approachable role model deeply resonated with attendees.

A standout moment came when a student remarked, “I want to do Law at UNSW, but knew I had to pair this with another degree, and I was looking at doing the BCom out of necessity. Now I will be completing the BCom because I want to do it.”

The event sparked a wave of enthusiasm, with students expressing a newfound interest in studying commerce, law, and economics. Feedback included praise for the candid panel discussions and the exposure to diverse career pathways in finance. One student noted, “It was a really good opportunity to learn about various different career pathways that I didn’t know existed before.”

WiBF is proud to support events like Empower Her that amplify the voices of women and open doors for future leaders in finance and beyond.
