Driving Purposeful Capital: Chloé Argyle’s Impact in Institutional, Corporate and Investment Banking
11 Feb 2026
The WiBF National Industry Awards celebrate individuals who shape the future of banking and finance with vision, expertise and impact. Among the 2025 winners, Chloé Argyle was recognised with the Achievement in Institutional, Corporate and Investment Banking Award, marking a milestone in a career defined by innovation, purpose and leadership.
Chloé’s career spans nearly 15 years, beginning in a junior position on the private wealth desk where she gained exposure across trading, institutional research and equity capital markets. This breadth of experience provided a solid foundation for her work in Corporate Finance and ECM, executing transactions both in Australia and internationally. From the start, she sought to combine technical excellence with strategic vision, laying the groundwork for her eventual focus on sustainable finance.

Building Purpose-Driven Capital Markets
Over time Chloé recognised the opportunity for capital markets to do more than generate financial returns. She saw a chance to accelerate Australia’s transition to a sustainable economy. This conviction led her to found éthica Capital, a corporate advisory firm specialising in sustainability focussed equity capital markets and M&A. The firm later merged with Green Bond Corporation, expanding services to debt capital markets and structured carbon-based financing, and strengthening their ability to mobilise private capital into projects that deliver both strong investment returns and meaningful climate impact.
Today Chloé leads initiatives that align institutional investment with climate-positive outcomes. Her work spans innovative financing structures, advisory partnerships and projects designed to tackle energy transition, circularity and decarbonisation. “Capital, when directed with purpose, can drive measurable change without compromising returns,” she says. This philosophy underpins her approach to leadership, investment and industry engagement.
Pivotal Moments and Mentorship
Several key moments shaped Chloé’s journey. Representing éthica Capital at United Nations COP summits allowed her to advocate for strategies that align institutional capital with sustainability goals. Another defining experience was becoming a founding partner of the $1 billion Circular Future Fund, collaborating with Boston Global Family Office and Planet Ark. These experiences reinforced the power of collaboration between private capital, impact investors and sustainability organisations to deliver both financial and social returns.
Mentorship has also played an important role in her career. Chloé reflects on the guidance she received and now strives to support the next generation of women in finance, demonstrating the value of sharing knowledge and creating networks that empower others to achieve meaningful impact.

Overcoming Challenges with Resilience
Chloé’s career has not been without challenges. A notable example was the recapitalisation of an investee company that had entered voluntary administration. While the company had strong underlying assets, management challenges and shifting market conditions required strategic restructuring. Navigating this process demanded a careful balance of commercial pragmatism and conviction, including renegotiating with creditors, restoring investor confidence and repositioning the business for long-term success.
“This experience reinforced the importance of resilience and collaboration under pressure,” she reflects. For Chloé, challenges are opportunities to innovate, lead and deliver tangible outcomes for investors and society.
Advice for Emerging Leaders
Chloé encourages women striving to make their mark in the industry to be exceptional at what they do and to define a clear niche. She emphasises the importance of building strong relationships, describing trust as the most valuable currency in finance. She also advises staying intellectually curious and adaptive, recognising that markets evolve rapidly and those who can pivot with integrity thrive.
Equally important is anchoring work in a larger purpose. “Banking and finance are powerful tools. When used intentionally, they can accelerate innovation, drive climate outcomes and create long-term value for both investors and society,” she says. Her message to the next generation of women leaders is clear: be bold, pursue your ideas relentlessly and let courage and conviction guide your career.

Looking Ahead
Chloé is particularly excited about the convergence of capital markets and climate innovation. She believes the coming decade will present some of the largest investment opportunities in solving complex global challenges such as energy transition, sustainable infrastructure and decarbonisation.
Her vision reflects a broader shift in finance, one where impact, inclusivity and innovation are central to success. Winning the WiBF Award is both a personal milestone and a recognition of her team at éthica Capital and Green Bond Corporation, whose work demonstrates that aligned purpose and capital can drive industry-wide progress.
Chloé Argyle’s career exemplifies the power of purposeful leadership in institutional, corporate and investment banking. Her story is a reminder that when women lead with conviction, expertise and vision, they do more than shape their own careers, they redefine what success looks like for the industry and society as a whole.
