Professor Nicki Wragg has more than 25 years of experience in research and leadership. As our previous interim Executive Dean of the School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, Nicki is an avid supporter of industry-engaged education which connects students, staff and industry together in meaningful and impactful projects.
With a background in Communication Design, Nicki champions a collaborative, design-led approach to program and curriculum development, research, and leadership. Her work explores the intersection of design, technology, and education, often through industry-engaged projects. Nicki led the development of Australia’s first fully online design degree, reimaging experiential learning online. She has driven pedagogical innovation at Swinburne, including the “Assessment for Learning” initiative, which commenced in 2022.
Her research interests are broad, using design processes in multifaceted ways – as a research tool to understand people; a method to create change; and design outcomes that shift behaviour. As PVC, Nicki’s focus is to listen and co-design innovative programs that inspire student’s intrinsic motivation, entrepreneurial leadership and creative mindset, to navigate our changing world.
